UK beef, lamb and pork showcased in Canada

Tuesday, 3 May 2022

Beef, lamb and pork from the UK will next week take centre stage at a major foodservice and hospitality show in Canada.

Our export team, along with four exporters, will highlight the UK’s high animal welfare standards, as well as sustainability and traceability of produce at RC Show 2022 in Toronto from 9 May to 11 May.

The RC Show provides exhibitors with the opportunity to meet with buyers from across the industry and gain insight into new foodservice trends to help maximise export opportunities in the region. Delegates visiting the AHDB stand will also have the opportunity to see a butchery display and sample some UK produce.

The UK exported nearly £17 million worth of red meat to Canada in 2021. Data for January and February 2022 shows that more than £4 million has already been shipped to Canada this year.

AHDB Senior Exports Manager (Americas) Susana Morris said: “Canada is an important market for our beef, lamb and pork sectors. Having a presence at trade shows like RC Canada plays a pivotal role in helping us support our exporters in maximising the opportunities in this growing market.

“It’s the first time since pre-Covid we have been able to participate and is the ideal opportunity to re-connect with the industry in Canada and identify new trends in foodservice. It will help us continue to develop this growing market and to maintain the momentum that has been building for our beef, lamb and pork products over the last couple of years.”
