At a glance

  • Domestic demand has remained subdued for free-buy material with main crop contracts now beginning.
  • There are expectations that the market will tighten as supplies are lifted into stores.
  • Concerns remain for crops that were subject to wetter conditions earlier in the year. There have also been increasing reports of internal issues this week.

2019 crop - Packing
England - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
  • Many packhouses are covered by contracts with little demand for free-buy material. This being said, there were some reports of a pickup in movement from last week.
  • Scottish supplies are coming onto the market but are met by limited demand.
Scotland - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
2019 crop - Bags
GB - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
  • Limited trade was reported in the bag market this week. While there is movement the volume required for each order is down on previous years.
East (Yorks, East Mids, Eastern Counties) - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
West (West Mids, Wales, North West) - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
South (South West, South, South East) - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
Scotland - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
No quotes reported. 
2019 crop - Processing
GB - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
  • Limited demand for free-buy material in all processing sectors as many processors are covered by contracts.
2019 crop - Exports
GB - All prices free-buy, ex farm, £/t unless otherwise stated.
  • We are still hearing reports of some trade to the Canary Islands.
  • Trade has also picked up a little to Ireland.

They give an indication of the range of prices achieved in the past week.
