Heading into March and no doubt many of you are busy welcoming new life on to the farm; spring is just around the corner. With lambing and calving well under way I hope you found February’s #ColostrumIsGold campaign useful. Feel free to share pictures of your new arrivals with us on Twitter by tagging @AHDB_BeefLamb.

This month we are focusing on environmental messages and we kick off with Carbon Week which is running 1-5 March. We have daily webinars and panel discussions for farmers and growers who want to understand more about the carbon cycle, carbon auditing and reducing emissions. There’s also a Carbon Week podcast which is a great listen as we hear from two farmers who are each at different stages with their carbon audits. They explain some of the simple changes they have been able to implement to reduce their carbon footprint on farm. On top of this activity, we are delighted to be working with 40 farms in our Farm Excellence network to carry out carbon audits with them, the results of which will lead to a detailed action plan for each farm.

Our latest Market Intelligence reports show that cattle prices remain high despite some declines and GB finished lamb prices have continued to climb in recent weeks. You can find the latest updates here https://ahdb.org.uk/markets-and-prices.

Experts from the Control of Worms Sustainably (COWS) group are urging dairy and suckler beef producers with autumn-born calves, to think carefully about their worm control programme this spring.
