New Chair of AHDB appointed by Defra Ministers
|
|
|
|
Emily Norton has been appointed by Defra Ministers as the new Chair of AHDB.
Emily, who has 25 years of experience in the food and farming sector, will take on the role for three years from 1 June 2025. She will succeed Nicholas Saphir, who is stepping down after more than five years in the role.

Graham Wilkinson to step down as AHDB CEO
|
|
|
|
Graham Wilkinson is stepping down from the role of CEO to join Sofina Foods as Group Agriculture Director; he will leave his post towards the end of 2025.
Outgoing AHDB Chair Nicholas Saphir said:
“While the board and I are naturally disappointed that Graham will be leaving AHDB, it is clear the organisation is well placed to continue delivering real benefit for levy payers.”

Farming Equipment and Technology Fund

The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund opened for applications on 29 May; it will close on 10 July 2025.
The fund includes three grants to help you buy equipment or technology to:

Pre-movement testing exemptions have been extended to 12 June 2025. This means you do not need to test non-breeding animals over the age of 60 days before moving them out of a restricted zone.
On 1 July 2025, the restricted zone will be extended to cover all of England. This means that from this date you will be able to move animals within England without a bluetongue licence or test.

Intoxication risks related to dry weather
|

A dairy herd recently lost over 30 adult animals following an incident of fertiliser intoxication.
Please remember that when transporting water in bowsers, it is important to ensure that they have been adequately cleaned beforehand, particularly if they have previously contained fertilisers.
