Important update on deadweight sheep price reporting
|
New legislation means statutory sheep carcase classification and deadweight price reporting is now in place – a major milestone for the sheep sector.
The new rules allow consistent, transparent and clear information on how sheep are assessed and priced at slaughter.
This means our voluntary survey now includes prices from a larger sample of abattoirs, which are required to price report under the new legislation.

Bluetongue virus (BTV) can have devastating consequences, particularly around calving, as the virus can lead to deformed or ‘dummy’ calves if the dam was infected during pregnancy.
If you notice unusual signs in your calves this spring, don’t ignore them.
BTV is a notifiable disease – you must report any suspicion immediately.
Speak to your vet about the benefits of vaccination and make use of the tools and resources on our website.
