EU restrictions on Brazilian beef exports
The EU has formally adopted measures that will remove Brazil from the list of approved exporters for a number of animal products, including beef and poultry, from 3 September 2026.
The decision is linked to antimicrobial use in livestock production rather than animal disease or animal health concerns.
Find out what this could mean for the UK market

Buying a Signet-recorded terminal sire
Despite the importance often placed on the look of a ram, the only influence it has upon the performance of its progeny is through its genes. This makes assessing the genetic merit of the sires you intend to buy vital.
Watch our short video to better understand how you can use breeding values to purchase a ram that meets your farm’s objectives.

Bluetongue alert: Cases and severity of clinical signs are rising
Cases of bluetongue virus (BTV) are rapidly increasing in both sheep and cattle. Clinical signs appear to be more severe than previous years, resulting in high mortality in sheep.
Although Defra funds the cost of diagnostic testing for up to three affected animals, there are reports of up to 10% of flocks being affected. This means that the number of cases is likely much higher than reported.
It’s not too late to vaccinate – speak to your vet and protect your animals.
BTV is a notifiable disease – find out how to spot it and report it.
